Paraphrased advice....

Both sets of directors stated that....

​

a) Get things done early.  Gather your props early.  Bring the costumes in early.

​

b) Be careful of setting the bar too high.  Sometimes big ideas sound good but are hard to put together.  

​

c) This one is always hard..... encourage to get your cast to have their lines down as early as possible.  Life things will come up and some of your cast members may be involved in several things and you will need to be patient.

​

d) Know that it will always be okay.  Sometimes it may not seem like it but it will.  If we can do it, you can do it

e) If you are reading this and you have not chosen your co-director than ensure that you choose someone you can work with and that complements you way of doing things.

 

EX.  If you are an "artistic" thinker than your co-director should be a more concrete thinker to help you turn creative ideas into a reality.

 

2 creative people could clash in regards to vision.

f) COMMUNICATE - Not only do you need to communicate with your co-director you also need to speak with your tech people/backstage people all of the time.

 

In addition to this there is difference between communicating and barking orders.  remember you are relying on these people to support your vision.  They are not getting paid enough to be putting up with aggressive directors.

g) Conflict with the group can happen. DON"T PANIC!  Go see Mr. A and he will step it.  Try not to let things fester.  Remember, every show is bigger than one idea or one person.  Sometimes you need to lets somethings go to keep the peace. Personal Ego is never a justification for making the show suffer.
